CLOSE PLAY -- This was the closest Allentown came to scoring in the playoff with St. Clair. Zeke DeLong, Allentown outfielder, was tossed out at third base on a close play in the sixth inning when Lesko bunted to St. Clair Pitcher Rennie Jenkins. Third baseman is Joe Holden.

THIS DID IT -- Mike Tobin, St. Clair catcher, lays down bunt which enabled Ed Sharockman to score winning run in final inning of the title game. CONGRATULATIONS -- Eddie Sharockman, St. Clair first baseman, is mobbed by crowd of jubilant St. Clair fans after scoring winning run on squeeze play in seventh inning. Sharockman's run gave St. Clair its first district baseball title in over 10 years.

Bill Taylor, Pottsville High's state shot put champion, is all smiles as he displays medal won at PIAA Class A track meet at University Park.

This is the form which aided Bill Taylor, Pottsville High shot put champion, to win the PIAA Class A title in the afternoon finals in the state meet at University Park Saturday. Taylor, who failed to break the state record by only three inches, tossed the 12-pound ball 56 feet 5 inches on his final attempt.
